Michael Taylor, Executive Vice President / Chief Operating Officer, Hospital Operations
Michael L. Taylor joined SCL Health as Executive Vice President / Chief Operating Officer, Hospital Operations, in January 2015. He is responsible for the operations, financial performance and strategic alignment of all SCL Health care sites. His role includes translating the needs of local sites in the context of a unified system, and positioning our regional health care organizations for success in dynamic, competitive markets.
Previously, Taylor served in a similar executive leadership role with McLaren Healthcare, a nonprofit healthcare company based in Flint, Mich. He also served as Senior Vice President of Operations at Dignity Health in the Sacramento, Calif., region, and held leadership positions at Baylor Healthcare System in Dallas. He possesses more than three decades of hospital and health system operations experience, and is known for driving meaningful improvements in quality and patient experience, and achieving clinical and financial performance targets.
Taylor earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in management from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. His bachelor’s degree in healthcare management is from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
