About Us

The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCLHS) was formed in 1972 to strengthen and unify the health care facilities sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. The SCLHS System is made up of nine hospitals and four stand-alone clinics located in the states of California, Colorado, Kansas, and Montana. As part of the healing mission of the Catholic Church, SCLHS and its Affiliates witness to the Gospel of Jesus by striving to provide quality health care in a spirit of justice and charity. SCLHS has a rich history and continues its ministry today through a commitment to our Mission, vision and values. Please read on to learn more about us.

Message from Bill Murray

Message from Bill MurrayDear Friends,

Grounded in a tradition of strong Values and energized by the call to serve, the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCLHS) is advancing boldly into the future in our unyielding pursuit of clinical excellence, strategic growth and health care for all.

Since our beginning in 1972, the Health System has continued and built on the legacy of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth (SCLs) who founded their first hospital in Leavenworth, Kan., in 1858.  Just as the sisters fostered excellence, our nine Hospitals and four Clinics strive for high standards.  We have award-winning facilities that are nationally recognized leaders in quality health care delivery and in customer service.

Much like the pioneer sisters ventured into uncharted territory, our Health System is on a major quest that will transform care delivery supported by advanced information technology and result in electronic health records for the patients we serve.  In their footsteps and in their name, the Health System has remained true to the charitable mission of the SCLs—providing services to persons of all means, especially the poor or the vulnerable.

Read on to learn more about us; contact us if you need additional information; and consider us your preferred provider, your health resource or for possible employment. You will find us highly dedicated to improving the health of the individuals and the communities we serve.

Thank you.

William M. Murray
President/CEO
