Links for Learning is a partnership involving the West Chamber Serving Jefferson County and Jeffco Public Schools. It is an opportunity for educators to connect with workplace settings through the people and institutions that shape the Jefferson County community. Participants visit a variety of employers to learn more about the changing nature of business, various career paths, and necessary employment skills needed by graduating seniors. Educators are then required to create classroom activities with strong connections between school and careers in the context of their experiences. Tours have taken the class to Jefferson County Workforce Center and Exempla Lutheran Medical Center. Visits to NREL, Gambro BCT, Bandimere Speedway and the Belmar Shopping Complex will complete the year. 2007-2008 Links for Learning Class participants are: Martha Beatley (Standley Lake HS), Nancy Clary (Bear Creek HS), Renie DelPonte (Jeffco CTE), Nancy Franz (Transition Career Coaching), Sara Heerens (Standley Lake HS), Arlie Huffman (Jeffco CTE), Vincent Ku (Standley Lake HS), Lisa Meier (Bear Creek HS), Linda Mitts (Bear Creek HS), Kenlyn Newman (WarrenTech), Martha Patton (Standley Lake HS), Susan Simons (WarrenTech), and Erin VonFeldt (Green Mountain HS). After an afternoon presentation by Dr. Cindy Stevenson, one educator emailed "Your presence further emphasizes the importance of partnerships and the necessity of providing relevant content to produce young adults who are innovative problem solvers in the workplace." _________________________________________________ The Jefferson Foundation is one of the oldest Colorado non-profit K-12 public education foundations.
