St. James Healthcare Foundation receives Rural Health Network Development Grant

 Butte, Montana – The St. James Healthcare Foundation was awarded a grant through the Department of Health and Human Services. This is a one-year planning grant worth $84,826. With this grant, the Foundation and its partners will be able to develop a diabetes network; provide a collaborative diabetes education, prevention and treatment program; reduce disease and economic burden; and improve quality of life for those with and at risk for diabetes in Butte-Silver Bow.

The Foundation plans to:

§         Hire a Diabetes Program Coordinator

§         Conduct a Community Needs assessment

§         Complete Program Business Plan

§         Recruit additional network partners 

“There is a definite need in our community for a diabetes program in Southwest Montana. This grant will allow for a diabetes program coordinator to be dedicated to diabetes in our community,” said Kevin Dennehy, Executive Director of the St. James Healthcare Foundation. “With this grant, we will partner with St. James Healthcare, Dr. Kirwan Webb and Dr. Pat McGree and possibly the Community Health Center, Mercury Street Medical, North American Indian Alliance, Montana Tech Nursing Program, Butte-Silver Bow Health Department and Private Practice Doctors.”
