City firefighters collect donations for Exempla program
Lafayette firefighters are gearing up to Pass the Boot for car seat safety from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, May 23, at the intersection of Highways 42 and 287 (in front of Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette).
The firefighters will stand at the intersection, collecting change, for this program.
The Lafayette Fire Department Hopes to Raise thousands for the hospital’s Car Seat Education Program.
The Baby’s First Ride Program at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center is a unique, hospital-based prevention program that gives every family of a newborn the opportunity to have their car seat inspected by a Certified Passenger Safety Technician before they leave the hospital.
Parents are educated about proper usage of the seat, and learn to install it correctly in their car. And, parents can access the program for follow-up as long as their child needs a car seat.
The program is free.
