HRH Gathering School Supplies & Clothing for Area Youth In Need
July 21, 2009
Holy Rosary Healthcare Mission Task Force is holding the fourth annual Christmas in July. Holy Rosary partners with the Department of Child and Family Services and the Office of Public Assistance to help families in need outfit their children with new clothes and provides desk supplies for school.
Children of all ages are available to receive clothing donations. The Department of Child and Family Services and the Office of Public Assistance gather the children’s size information from the families who are in need. The gathered information is then anonymously printed on tree tags and hung on a Christmas tree in the Holy Rosary Healthcare lobby in July. The tree is on display now and the community is invited to pick up a child’s tree tag at Holy Rosary by July 31 and purchase a new outfit for the child. In 2008 the project provided for 123 children.
School supply donations are also being collected and evenly distributed to local schools. The schools then distribute the supplies to children who need them. Schools have suggested the following items for supplies: Kleenex, pencils, crayons, pencil boxes, glue, glue sticks, erasers, backpacks, folders, blunt tip scissors, rulers, markers, notebooks, crayons, poster board and pencil boxes.
All donations must be delivered to the Holy Rosary Human Resource office by no later than 5 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2009.
