HRH offering free Walk@Lunch fitness program
August 25, 2009
Holy Rosary Healthcare is promoting personal health by offering a Walk@Lunch fitness club for nine weekly sessions in September and October. All are welcome to join the Tuesday sessions from 12:10 to 12:50 beginning September 1. Walkers will use the new donor-funded 1.3-mile Wellness Walk on the Holy Rosary campus.
The goal of Holy Rosary’s Walk@Lunch club, which is free to all participants, is to encourage people of all ages to embrace healthy living by incorporating physical activity into the work day, specifically by walking at lunch every day. Walkers will be led by a different health care professional from Holy Rosary each week.
Holy Rosary is inviting anyone interested to join the Walk@Lunch movement by coming any of the Tuesdays in September and October. While the program officially begins September 1, walkers may join anytime during the nine-week program, may walk at their own pace, and may participate as frequently as they wish over the nine weeks. Walkers may start from any point on the Wellness Walk or may join the main group by meeting shortly after 12 noon outdoors, on the Wellness Walk near the east end of the main hospital parking lot. The official program will run from 12:10 to 12:50 to allow people to get to and from work during their lunch hours.
Holy Rosary and the HRH Foundation have been involved in a number of personal health and wellness projects in recent years including Healthy Lifestyles (a diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention program), Workout to Wellness, Commit to be Fit, and the construction of the donor-funded Wellness Walk.
