St. Joseph's Hospital Adopts Columbine Students
In the season and spirit of giving, employees from St. Joseph Exempla Hospital presented each and every student at Columbine Elementary School (ECE-6th) with a back pack containing an entire outfit (specifically sized for each student), a goodie bag of various snacks and juice.
The holiday visit and celebration at Columbine was made possible through the generosity of various St. Joe employees who purchased the gifts with personal funds. Ms. Kristi Davis, Director of Medical Staff Services coordinated the event.
“Because in this economic climate we wanted to adopt our community’s children,” she said.
Ms. Davis said that she was amazed at the number of hospital staff who were willing to participate and go out and buy gifts. Echoing the sentiments of several students, one 6th grader said, “I think it was so generous of so many people to buy clothes for all the kids in the whole school.”
Teachers at the school were equally impressed and grateful for the community involvement. “Thank you for loving our kids,” declared Columbine’s 6th grade teacher.
