Janet Palmer Named Corporate Compliance Officer

Janet Palmer has been named Corporate Compliance Officer at St. James Healthcare. Palmer will be responsible for all aspects of compliance to ensure compliance with federal health care program requirements. Her duties will include implementing and updating all compliance policies, procedures, and practices, developing compliance oversight processes and committees, and providing compliance training and education for employees, medical staff, and board members. As a member of St. James’ executive team, she will work closely with the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System’s legal staff to ensure St. James Healthcare is in compliance with all regulatory organizations, and she will develop and manage an internal disclosure program for reporting potential issues or concerns. Her vast experience and expertise in the area of health care compliance will enhance our program at St. James and ensure we maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations that impact the operations of our hospital.” For the past 10 years, Palmer was employed by Tenet Healthcare, Inc., where she served as the Compliance and Privacy Officer and the Director of Contract Administration at the Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to that, she was the Government Relations and Compliance Manager at Secure Choice Health Plan, an affiliate of the Georgia Baptist Health Care System. She also spent 16 years as an engineer for Georgia Power Company and Lockheed Aeronautical Systems. Palmer is a board member of the African Children’s Mission, NGO, and a member of the Health Care Compliance Association. Palmer holds a Master of Health Care Policy and Administration from Mercer University and a Master of Business Administration from Jacksonville State University. She also has a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Janet and her husband, Jim, have two adult children.
