Patient experience at region's hospitals 'outstanding'

GOLDEN - Four Northern Colorado hospitals were among the nine best in the state for "outstanding patient experience," according to a report by Golden-based medical-rating service Health Grades Inc.
Listed as tops in the state were:
Longmont United Hospital, Longmont
McKee Medical Center, Loveland
Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland
Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins
Also on the list: Avista Adventist Hospital, Louisville; Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center, Lafayette; Mercy Regional Medical Center, Durango; Vail Valley Medical Center, Vail; and Valley View Hospital Association, Glenwood Springs.
The ratings were based on a survey of Medicare and Medicaid patients discharged between July 2008 and June 2009. It included questions on physician and nurse communication, hospital staff responsiveness, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, medication information and post-discharge care instructions.
