But, these costume-clad grown-ups on kids' toys have a big cause. In the perfect combination of childlike fun and full-grown philanthropy, the mission of these renegade riders at this year's Boulder Big Wheel Rally is to raise funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Denver's Saint JosephHospital. "In 2005, my best friends' daughter Maya was born three months premature at only two pounds," said Matt Armbruster, the founder of the Almost-Annual Big Wheel Rally. "Maya spent the next three months under the diligent care of Saint JosephHospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and she is now a beautiful, healthy little girl. I knew in an instant that the mission of the Big Wheel Rally would be to support Saint Joseph Hospital NICU and their lifesaving, specialized care for newborns." Participants of the 29 th Almost-Annual Big Wheel Rally will meet at 5:00 pm Saturday, July 10 th, at The Walrus Saloon (11 th & Walnut Streets in Boulder), and then head east, canvassing various restaurants and watering holes along the Pearl Street Mall. Visit www.BigWheelRally.com to register, make a tax-deductible donation, and to view the evening's complete itinerary, which includes a full-throttle night of ramps and stairs, plastic and power slides, all while wearing big grins and cruising on modified Big Wheels. All proceeds from the $25 registration fee (which includes an official T-shirt, race bib, prize ticket, and RIDELOW wristband which entitles the wearer to special deals at venues, restaurants and hotels the day of the Rally) go directly to help support capital needs, continuing education for Saint Joseph's NICU staff and any special needs for the babies or families of the NICU. About the Saint JosephHospital Foundation The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation has been assisting Saint JosephHospital for 30 years to achieve its mission of fostering health and healing for the community, especially the underserved. Proceeds from the 29 th Almost-Annual Matt Armbruster Memorial Big Wheel Rally will be donated to the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Fund. This restricted fund of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation supports capital needs, continuing education for NICU staff and any special needs for the babies or families of the NICU. The Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital NICU is a Level III intensive and intermediate care unit, treating all newborns who are born prematurely or who have illnesses or conditions that require a high level of care.
