DENVER – On Saturday Sept. 25, The Cancer Center at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center will provide free prostate cancer screenings for the general public as part of its 2010 free men’s health screening event. Early detection of prostate cancer is crucial. The Cancer Center at Exempla Lutheran will offer the prostate cancer screening to men who qualify and are not currently under the care of a urologist.
Appointments are required for the prostate cancer screening available from 8:30 a.m. to noon. In addition to the prostate cancer and testicular cancer screenings, Exempla Lutheran will also provide screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, smoking, pulse oximetry, heel scan, nutrition, fitness evaluation and sleep apnea.
Testicular cancer screenings will be offered for men ages 15 to 35. Qualifications for the prostate cancer screening are as follows: between 40-75 years of age without a previous prostate cancer diagnosis; 35 years or older with a family prostate cancer history; a Hispanic or African-American male; have not had a prostate cancer screening within the past year and are not currently under a urologist’s care.
