HRH Adds Digital Mammography
October 06, 2010
Holy Rosary Healthcare has announced the addition of Digital Mammography to their Women’s Health program.
“We’re very pleased to be adding digital mammography as yet another exceptional service to our robust women’s health program,” said Jeff Williams, MD, OB/GYN. “Digital mammography is the gold standard of breast health screening and now patients have access to it right here at Holy Rosary.”
James B. MacMillan, III, MD, OB/GYN, commented: “Digital mammography will now be available to the women of this region thanks to the generosity of the people, businesses, and organizations from this area. Digital mammography will definitely enhance our capability to diagnose breast disease here at Holy Rosary Healthcare.”
Nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States, and 40,000 women will lose their battle to the disease in 2010, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the state of Montana, the same source reported that over 1,200 women will be diagnosed with the disease and nearly 200 will die from breast cancer this year.
Nancy Volz, RT, HRH mammographer, said, “One of the many advantages of digital mammography is that its exceptional image quality allows detection of the most minor tumors or abnormalities. This promotes the earliest detection of breast cancer which is very positive for the women we serve.”
In addition to superior image quality, other benefits of digital mammography include: shorter exam times, usually lasting 15 minutes or less; comfortable paddles; greater image flexibility to reach tissue that may have previously been missed; and wheel-chair access.
Holy Rosary Healthcare does partner with Montana Breast and Cervical program to offer free or reduced mammograms to patients based on income guidelines. To schedule an appointment or learn more about digital mammography at Holy Rosary Healthcare, please call 233.2673.
