November 03, 2010
Miles City native Travis Walker, MBA , MD , a pediatrician, will return home to open a comprehensive pediatrics clinic and hospital practice at Holy Rosary Healthcare in summer 2011.
Dr. Walker, a CCDHS alum, received his bachelor’s degree from Montana State University and his masters in business administration from Regis University . He graduated from medical school at Poznan University of Medical Science and is completing his residency with Michigan State University – Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies.
“We’re pleased to have Dr. Walker joining the growing women’s and children’s program at Holy Rosary,” said HRH CEO Ron Webb, MHA. “We’re working hard to find highly qualified physicians that are a good fit for our organization and community. It’s always wonderful when we can bring a locally raised physician back home to practice medicine. We’re very pleased to have Dr. Walker joining us.”
Dr. Walker has an impressive academic background and has made several oral presentations and written a number of articles on health-related topics for publication. In addition to completing his residency, he is currently a clinical instructor of medicine and pediatrics for Michigan State University and serves on the infection control committee for Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Dr. Walker added: “I really appreciate rural medicine and knew it was where I wanted to be. I looked at several places and Holy Rosary kept coming out on top as they are aggressively growing their women’s and children’s program, and I wanted to be part of that.”
Dr. Walker will specialize in the full scope of pediatric care including newborn, toddlers, youth, and adolescents. He will operate a full outpatient clinic practice in the HRH Medical Arts Center and will admit and care for inpatient pediatric patients at Holy Rosary Healthcare. Dr. Walker will be returning to Miles City in summer 2011 to begin his practice at Holy Rosary upon completion of his residency.
