HRH Digital Mammography Earns Gold Seal Accreditation
March 28, 2011
Holy Rosary Healthcare Radiology has renewed a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
Todd Burch, Radiology Services Manager, stated, “Digital Mammography allows our patients access to the most current equipment and our on-site Radiologist.” Mammography is a specific type of low-dose imaging test to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women. Patients will benefit from receiving their results in a timely manner and know whether additional images are needed. Burch added, “Digital Mammography is a cornerstone in our Women’s Health Program at HRH.”
In addition to Digital Mammography, HRH Radiology Department offers CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, DEXA bone density scans, x-ray, and stress testing. To learn more visit www.holyrosaryhealthcare.org or call (406) 233-2673.
