Holy Rosary To Host Special 55 Alive Driving Course
July 01, 2011
Miles City, MT – June 30th, 2011 – Holy Rosary Healthcare is offering a driving educational class Saturday, July 23rd, 2011, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Healthcare Board Room for retired educators. This class is being offered free of charge to retired educators through NRTA formerly known as the National Retired Teachers Association. Retired educators would have received a voucher for this special offering and will need to present voucher at the class.
This class is designed as a refresher course to help you learn the effects of aging on driving. The course addresses physical changes that can affect your driving ability and behavior, and ways to compensate for these changes.
Recent studies have shown that fatal crashes involving a driver 70 years of age or older fell about 37 percent between 1997 and 2008 according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. While the report suggests that further studies are needed to determine the exact reason for the decline they believe that improvements in health among older adults and self-restriction of older drivers are factors in the findings. This information reinforces the work of the driver safety program in making safer drivers on the roads and awareness of age-related changes.
Regular cost of the class is $14.00/person. Seniors may be eligible for a discount on their auto insurance rates by completing this four hour course. Seniors may also receive a discount on course expense if they are a member of AARP. Snacks will be provided by Holy Rosary Healthcare. Registration is required and class size will be limited. To register or to obtain more information, please call 233-2604. Another 55 Alive Driving Course will be held in August.
