HRH Foundation, Big Sky Smile Center Offering Free Children’s Dental Care August 12
July 14, 2011
Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation’s SmileSavers program will hold a free children’s dental clinic Friday, August 12, at Big Sky Smile Center in Miles City. Appointments are available now for children ages four to 12 who are uninsured, on Medicare, Medicaid, Healthy Montana Kids or otherwise have a financial need for care.
Dr. Barrie Matthews and his team of dental assistants and hygienists from Big Sky Smile Center will be providing complete dental care (except orthodontia) to approximately 40 children, ages four to 12, during this free clinic.
"We’re glad to partner with the Foundation to provide important dental care to kids in our community,” said Barrie Matthews, DMD. “This is our second year we’ve offered free dental care to children and are happy to do it as a great way to support our local community and region.”
The Foundation, through the financial support of donors and through the collaborative relationship with Big Sky Smile Center and Hogan Family Dental, provides complete dental services for youth living in the Miles City area. SmileSavers has operated in its first five years through a partnership with the Ronald McDonald CareMobile, and in 2010 moved to the partnership with local dentists. Since the program was launched in 2005, over 800 children have received care. According to the most recent census data, approximately 79 percent of children in Montana are without dental coverage.
Jackie Muri, CGPA, MSL, HRH Foundation Director, added: “This program is so important to this community and our local kids. SmileSavers is one more living and breathing example of how our Foundation’s donors are making such a meaningful difference right here at home.”
