DENVER — (Jan. 15, 2013) – Exempla Healthcare, an affiliate of SCL Health System, announced that all three of its Denver-area hospitals have received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical ExcellenceTM from Healthgrades, a leading provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This prestigious distinction places the facilities among the top 5 percent of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide for clinical performance. Exempla is the only health system in Colorado to earn recognition from Healthgrades for all three of its hospitals.
“We are unified in our goal to create a truly person-centered health system driven by compassionate care and focused on quality clinical outcomes,” said Bob Ladenburger, President and CEO of Exempla Healthcare. “We understand consumers have a choice in determining where to send their loved ones for care, and we remain committed to set and exceed the highest standards for patient care.”
Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital, Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center and Exempla Lutheran Medical Center are three of 262 hospitals named this year that stand out above the rest for their overall clinical care across a broad spectrum of care. These hospitals exhibit comprehensive high-quality care across multiple clinical specialties, including cardiology, oncology and emergency care. In addition, Exempla hospitals exhibit an overall 30.9 percent lower risk adjusted mortality rate as compared to other hospitals that did not achieve Healthgrades’ Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence Award (across 18 common inpatient conditions and procedures).
“Achieving clinical excellence for our patients is a goal we strive for every day,” said Dr. John Byrnes, Chief Medical Officer for SCL Health System. “The Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence is a mark of our commitment to providing the highest levels of patient outcomes and safety with a caring spirit.”
