DENVER (April 1, 2013) — SCL Health System, a faith-based, nonprofit health care organization, announced today that it has finalized the sale of Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., and Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kan., to Prime Healthcare Services.
“The clinicians and associates affiliated with these care sites are tremendous assets to the Kansas City and Leavenworth communities and have been faithful stewards of our mission for many years,” said Michael Slubowski, FACHE, FACMPE, President and CEO of SCL Health System. “We are pleased to find a committed partner in Prime Healthcare Services to ensure these facilities have a sustainable future for the health and well-being of the communities they serve, especially the poor and vulnerable there.”
Prime Healthcare Services will maintain current acute-care and emergency department services at both locations for at least five years, provide at least $10 million in capital and other improvements and have committed to maintain current levels of charity care.
