The Hom Scholarship Program is a competitive process which draws a large number of applicants each year with eastern Montana roots, one of the selection criteria. In 2005, Ken Hom of Miles City established a substantial endowment in memory of his late wife, Millie, the founder of the nursing program at Miles Community College and a true pioneer for the nursing profession in Montana. Hom partnered with the Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation to fund the endowment that will provide nursing scholarships and professional opportunities for years to come.
The Millie & Ken Hom Nursing Scholarship Program criteria includes: is pursuing an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program related to nursing; has spent at least one year of their life in eastern Montana; has a proven need for financial assistance; is enrolled in a nursing program.
This year, the six-member, independent selection committee chose five finalists from Glendive, Sidney, and Miles City, Montana and Mandan, North Dakota.
The Millie & Ken Hom Nursing Scholarship Program is administered by the Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation and scholarship recipients are selected by an independent committee. The next round of the scholarship application process begins January 2014. For more information, visit www.hrhfoundation.com and select "Scholarships".
