Scholarship Winners Announced

The St. James Healthcare Foundation recently awarded three $1,000 scholarships to Butte students.
Hannah Stacar, a 2013 graduate of Butte Central, is one of two recipients for the 2013 Bern and Ruth Dennehy Healthcare Scholarship. The $1,000 award was established by long-time Butte residents, Bern and Ruth Dennehy. It is administered by the St. James Healthcare Foundation for graduating high school seniors who wish to pursue a career in the health field. Stajcar plans to attend Montana Tech in the fall to pursue a degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Mary Beth and Mike Stajcar.
Kevin Jacob “Jake” Dennehy, a 2013 graduate of Butte High, also received the 2013 Bern and Ruth Dennehy scholarship. Dennehy plans to study pre-med at Montana State University with a goal of attending medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon. He is the son of Liza and Kevin Dennehy.
Erika Kitto, a Montana Tech nursing student, is the recipient of the St. James School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship. She will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in the spring of 2014. This $1,000 award is given annually by the St. James School of Nursing Alumni, through the St James Healthcare Foundation, to provide recognition and financial support to students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) at Montana Tech.
“We are very pleased to award these scholarships to Hannah, Jake, and Erika,” said Kate Olney, Executive Director of the St. James Healthcare Foundation. “They have excelled in academics and I know they will continue to excel as they pursue their health care careers. We congratulate them and thank all the contributors of the Bern and Ruth Dennehy Healthcare Scholarship Fund and the St. James School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship Fund.”
