135 local youth benefit from SmileSavers this year

November 06, 2013

Over $39,000 in care provided

The Holy Rosary Healthcare (HRH) Foundation is pleased to announce that 135 children received comprehensive dental care through the SmileSavers program in 2013. The value of rendered services totaled $39,243. The HRH Foundation SmileSavers program is funded 100 percent through donor contributions.

Since the 2005 launch of SmileSavers, over 1,000 children have received dental care locally. In the first four years, Smile Savers was operated through a partnership with the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile; in 2010, the partnership expanded to include local practices – Big Sky Smile Center and Hogan Family Dental. Through such collaborations, and with the financial support of donors, the HRH Foundation is able to provide complete dental services to children and youth in need in the Miles City area.

"SmileSavers is so important for kids in our community and region," noted Jackie Muri, CFRE, CGPA, MSL, HRH Foundation Executive Director. "Our local dental offices have been tremendous supporters of this program. It is exciting to see what a remarkable difference our donors are making!"

Robin Hogan, DDS, of Hogan Family Dental added, "We are thrilled to partner with the Foundation to provide important dental care to kids in our community." Along with Big Sky Smile Center, Hogan Family Dental provides free dental care for children up to 12 years of age, in partnership with the HRH Foundation through SmileSavers. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile offers free treatment locally, to children up to the age of 18.

According to recent census data, approximately 74 percent of children in Montana are without dental coverage. Uninsured children demonstrating a significant financial need, as well as those on Medicaid and Healthy Montana Kids, are eligible to participate in the SmileSavers program. Local SmileSavers events will resume in the spring of 2014.
