Lafayette, Colo. – April 2, 2014 – The most recent report on hospital safety released by ConsumerReport.org shows Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center (EGSMC) received a score of 54.
We are supportive of organizations that gather and report hospital safety information, although we recognize that the use of differing methodology, scoring systems and quality data can sometimes be confusing. In addition, these types of rankings represent just one piece of a large puzzle of patient care.
“At Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center patient safety is our highest priority, and quality improvement is at the forefront of our safety efforts,” said Susan Kerschen, VP and Chief Nursing Officer. “We have made several strides during the past year, particularly in the areas of heart failure, where we are consistently meeting performance scores as tracked by other organizations like the American Heart Association. In addition, we have been very active in lowering readmissions for patients to our hospital. The bottom line is, we are continuing our journey of improvement in all areas of patient care every day.”
