SCL Health Appoints Key Leaders to Medical Groups

Broomfield, COLO. (Feb. 1, 2017) – SCL Health, a faith-based nonprofit health system serving communities in three states, has appointed two new leaders to its Medical Groups and Provider Services division. Scott Baker assumes the role of Chief Operating Officer for Medical Groups and Provider Services, while Cara Beatty, MD, will lead SCL Health’s largest medical group as President and Chief Medical Officer of Denver-based SCL Physicians. Both will join SCL Health in February.
SCL Health operates 210 physician clinics and employs nearly 600 medical providers in Colorado, Kansas and Montana. As COO of Medical Groups and Provider Services, Baker will oversee operations for all six of SCL Health’s medical groups.
Baker joins SCL Health from Banner Health in Greeley, Colorado, where he served as Vice President of Clinic Operations for Banner Medical Group’s Western Division since 2011. He also assumed the role of Interim CEO for Banner Northern Colorado between May and September 2016. Baker holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Lincoln University. He is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
As President and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Beatty will lead the largest of SCL Health’s medical groups, SCL Physicians, a multi-specialty group serving patients in clinics throughout the Front Range and at Saint Joseph Hospital, Good Samaritan Medical Center and Lutheran Medical Center.
Dr. Beatty comes to SCL Health from UnitedHealth Group Colorado, where she served as Market Medical Director since June 2015. Prior to UnitedHealth, she served in various roles for Kaiser Permanente-Colorado between 2007 and 2015, including the Senior Physician Director of Member Experience, Operations Chief for the West Area and Co-Chief of Primary Care at Kaiser Permanente’s Hidden Lake offices. Board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Beatty completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Calgary and earned her medical degree from University of Alberta.
