At Providence Medical Center patients will discover quality doctors, innovative technology and caring staff. Providence is proud to be part of the incredible progress that is sweeping the area and is easily accessible from I-435 and I-70 and close by to Nebraska Furniture Mart and Cabela’s.
Providence is committed to a philosophy of service inspired by the healing ministry of Christ, which encompasses the broad spectrum of healthcare. This philosophy and responsiveness to community needs have characterized the history of the Medical Center.
At the request of Bishop Ward, the Sisters of Charity opened Providence Hospital in 1920. In 1976, the Medical Center relocated to a new site on a spacious campus in western Kansas City, Kan. The mission continues to focus on Providence's special identity as a Catholic hospital while expanding its service area.
Providence Medical Center's delivery system includes:
- The Providence Joint Center, which has re-created the way staff care for those individuals receiving a total knee, hip or shoulder replacement.
- The Providence Diabetes Center, offering both inpatient and outpatient resources for patients who have diabetes, including diabetes management during hospitalization, various outpatient education classes and a free, monthly support group.
- The new Providence Spine Center, which offers a comprehensive multi-disciplinary spine care program.
- The Radiation Oncology Center providing extensive care for patients with cancer through inpatient treatment. The Center has a new Trilogy system that treats a variety of life-threatening conditions, including cancer, with image-guided radiation therapy.
- The Cardiac Center, a specialized cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation unit as well as a 16-bed Cardiovascular Intervention patient unit.
- Interventional Radiology services.
- The Family Care Center for maternity, obstetrical and gynecological care and pediatrics.
- Outpatient Rehabilitation Services.
The Medical Center offers a broad range of general and specialized surgical services including:
- Neurosurgery
- Orthopaedics
- Cardiac and vascular surgery
- Outpatient services featuring same-day surgery, pain management and diagnostic procedures.
These services are supported by advanced technology and the expertise of the Medical Staff representing diverse specialties. Providence opened a new Urgent Care facility in northern Johnson County in September, 2005. The Wyandot Medical Building and Providence Place, a 90-bed nursing facility, are also located on the campus as well as the Providence Saint John Foundation.
As Catholic, community-based healthcare providers, Providence Medical Center is committed to life and living. Partnerships with area sports teams such as the Kansas City T-Bones have helped expand the hospital’s commitment to total health and wellness of the Kansas City community, including area schools and students.
